A police sub-inspector allegedly committed suicide on Saturday by shooting himself at Upparapalli in Hyderabad apparently over family issues, police said.
Sridhar, who had been drawn for bandobast duty as part of security arrangements in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, allegedly shot himself on his chest with his service revolver, they said.
“He was drawn for bandobast duty. Last night he was on duty and he allegedly committed suicide this morning,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shamshabad Zone) PV Padmaja said. “As part of bandobast duty he came to city on 23 November.
He was found dead near an apartment by a policeman who was scheduled to take over duty this morning,” Assistant Commissioner of Police (Rajendra Nagar) K Ganga Reddy said.
Sridhar had joined as Sub-Inspector in 2012 and was attached to Chintalamanepalli Police Station. As per preliminary investigation, he resorted to the extreme step allegedly due to family issues, the ACP said.
