In an interview with a local daily, Mumbai mayor and Shiv Sena leader Snehal Ambedkar has compared Indian PM Narendra Modi with late German dictator Adolf Hitler.
The 43-year-old city mayor even compared herself to a state chief minister and said she deserves a red-beacon vehicle for the position she currently holds.
“I even admire (Narendra) Modi for his self-reliant way of working. But at some level, I feel his rule is quite like Hitler…,” said Ambedkar.
“This is bound to happen when power is concentrated in the hands of one man,” added Ambedkar, who is Mumbai’s seventh woman and first Dalit woman mayor.
“The mayor has constant emergencies, as well as we go to receive VVIPs as representatives of the masses. If a chief minister has red beacon, a mayor’s status is pretty similar in terms of a city. I believe there is nothing wrong for a mayor in using a red beacon fitted car,” she also said in the interview.
Ambedkar’s comments are the latest in a series of digs Shiv Sena has taken at the BJP although both the parties are allies in Maharashtra as well as at the Centre.
