A leopard barged into a school in Chikmagalur district of Karnataka on Thursday, leaving three people injured and students and staff shocked at the whole incident.
School officials evacuated the building and called forest officials to help in the situation immediately after spotting the leopard.
An operation was thereafter launched to nab the cat, which was locked by putting a cage at the door where it is holed up. A team of veterinarians with tranquilizers are arriving from Shivamogga.
Interestingly, the same leopard had been spotted early in the morning at Kadur club premises in the heart of Chikmanglur. It was later found at the TMS school.
In the morning too, a person had been left injured as the leopard pounced on him at the club.
The school management had meanwhile declared the day as a holiday. Hundreds of people had gathered outside the school after hearing the news. Local police had a busy day managing the mob.
