On Thursday, www.jantakareporter.com carried a hard-hitting blog by the NSUI general secretary, Hasiba B Amin, who highlighted the danger of saffronisation of the BHU at the hands of the RSS, the BJP’s ideological mentor.
In her blog, Hasiba sought to present the ground realities on the plight of students particularly girls and those who disagreed with the right-wing ideologies. The man responsible for the utter breakdown
According to her, the man carrying out the RSS agenda was the present VC Prof. Girish Cahndra Tripathi, who was also the proposer of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s candidature in Lok Sabha elections from Varanasi.
She wrote, “Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is a central University located in the Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi’s constituency, Varanasi. The current Vice Chancellor, Prof. Girish Cahndra Tripathi was appointed in late 2014 by a search panel that was led by the same man who was PM Modi’s proposer for his candidature as MP from his constituency.
“The VC, a self-proclaimed RSS man, has allowed the RSS cadres to hold rallies inside the prestigious campus. The VC himself has been seen hoisting the RSS’ student wing, ABVP’s flag at various occasions. With the aim of permeating their proxies into important posts of the university, the VC and the BHU administration have been practicing favoritism while appointing professors.”
Our story found considerable traction on social media with users fervently sharing the content both on Twitter and Facebook. Such was the buzz that by Saturday, the Congress supporters launched a new hashtag #SaveBHUfromRSS on Twitter. The hashtag became a top Twitter trend in no time.
Here are some of the reactions:
