Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan on Tuesday faced brutal social media roasting from Pakistani social media users after Glenn Maxwell played the greatest-ever ODI knock to guide Australia to a sensational win against Afghanistan. An overwhelming majority of users are asking Pathan why he did not perform his famous dance on Tuesday.

Pathan was first seen performing a dance inside the cricket stadium after Afghanistan defeated Pakistan in the ongoing World Cup. He then followed it up after almost every victory of the Afghanistan cricket team.

No sooner did Australia pull off the sensational win against Afghanistan, netizens, largely from Pakistan, thronged to X, formerly known as Twitter, to inundate the platform with taunts and memes targeting Pathan.

Pathan too took to social media to congratulate Australia for Tuesday’s unprecedented win. He wrote, “Some match winning innings are such that you just stand up and applaud. An inning to remember for lifetime by Maxwell.”

Pathan also termed Maxwell’s knock of 201 not out as the ‘best ever white ball inning.’
