Fire breaks out in Kolkata power substation

A fire has broken out in a power utility company’s substation in Dum Dum in the eastern fringes of Kolkata on Friday, officials said.

As many as 15 fire tenders were pressed into service, an official of the West Bengal Fire and Emergency Services said.

Reports of the blaze came about 11.30 a.m. and around 10 fire engines reached the Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation substation, which is close to the Dum Dum Central Jail, the official said.

Last month, A fire broke out in a building in Park Street area in Kolkata but no casualty or injuries were reported. The fire broke out on the eighth floor of the Park Centre building and took 10 fire tenders nearly three hours to douse it.
