Anupriya Patel meets Sheila Dikshit, fuels political gossips

BJP’s new import Anupriya Patel met Congress’ Uttar Pradesh chief ministerial candidate, Sheila Dikshit, on Saturday, reported Navbharat Times.

The development has given rise to fresh political gossip in the poll-bound state with many speculating if everything was well with the BJP and Patel.

However, other reports said that it wasn’t a meet but both leaders had ‘bumped’ into one another at the airport lounge.

Anupriya, who was inducted in Narendra Modi’s cabinet last month after the prime minister appointed her as a new minister of state for health.

She was, however, embroiled in a big controversy after it emerged that she had allegedly tweeted hate messages against Indian Muslims before becoming a central minister.

Her alleged tweets had said, “We’ve been let down by our own people. Else, when did 100 crore people (Hindus) were left scared of 20 crore mullahs. Crores of rupees for Akhlaq but not a single word for Kairana’s Hindus. Kudos to Namazwaadi (Muslims) government.”

Patel had later vehemently denied having posted these tweets saying the Twitter handle never belonged to her.

Anupriya joining the cabinet had also caused feud in her own family with her mother and the leader of Apna Dal training guns at the BJP for not respecting the dharma of coalition politics.

Apna Dal announced that it was severing ties with partner BJP, accusing it of not following the “decorum of alliance”.

The Apna Dal, led by the new minister’s mother Krishna Patel, had expelled 35-year-old Anupriya, from the party last year following a family feud.

Anupriya Patel, even after becoming a minister, insisted that Apna Dal was her party.
But the faction led by her mother has often complained that despite the BJP “being informed about the activities of Anupriya, who was expelled, the BJP leaders did not take congnisance of it and did not act.”
