A technical assistant working at Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam was arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau in Kota for allegedly accepting a bribe Rs 2,000 from a consumer in the district.
Sitaram Meena was arrested last evening by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuth while he was accepting the bribe from a consumer at Ayaana JEN substation office of Itawa panchayat committee in Pipelda tehsil, ACB Circle In-charge Vivek Soni said.
He had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 4,000 from Radhe Shyam Meena, also the complainant in the case, for exempting him from a penalty of Rs 27,000 which was slapped for power theft, Soni said.
After the complaint was lodged on 7 December with the ACB a trap was laid and the accused arrested red handed yesterday, he said, adding the bribe amount was also recovered.
The accused would be produced before ACB court on Wednesday, Soni said.
