Workers at Maruti Suzuki’s plant in Manesar in Haryana’s Gurgaon district clashed on Saturday over the recent increase in wages of some employees, police said.
Regular and casual workers at the plant clashed after casual workers staged a protest at the main gate. A few workers were injured and police had to intervene.
Around 1,000 casual workers alleged that their union leaders reached an agreement with the company management ignoring their interests.
A protestor said, “Casual workers did not get any benefit in the recent increase in wages.”
Police have been deployed in the factory, and an official said that the situation was tense but under control.
The plant had witnessed violence in July 2012, in which a company executive was killed and nearly 100 were left injured.
