Air services on the New Delhi-Chennai route were today affected due to rain in the national capital, airport officials said.
“As many as eight flights belonging to various airlines that were supposed to depart for New Delhi and those aircraft scheduled to arrive were affected by delays due to heavy rainfall there,” they said .
Heavy rains lashed Delhi yesterday and several roads were water-logged, causing hardships to thousands of office goers and other commuters throughout the day.
The MET department has predicted more rainfall for today also.
Overnight rains kept the weather pleasant in the national capital this morning with the minimum temperature settling three notches below normal.
“The minimum temperature recorded at 8.30 AM was 24 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal,” a MeT official said. Safdarjung observatory has recorded 12.9 mm of rainfall while 143.6 mm of rainfall was recorded at Palam observatory till 8.30 AM.
The humidity levels shot up to 95 per cent and the weatherman has predicted that rains will continue.
“The skies will be generally cloudy. Heavy rains may occur in some areas of the capital and maximum temperature is expected to settle at 29 degrees Celsius,” the official also said.
Yesterday, the minimum and maximum temperature recorded were 26.5 degree and 29.5 degree Celsius respectively.
