Over Rs.7 crore in cash was recovered from vehicles on Wednesday in Bihar’s Saran and Siwan districts during routine checking in the poll-bound state, police said.
Rs.7 crore haul was made from a vehicle in Chapra while Rs.12 lakh was found in a vehicle in the neighbouring Siwan district, the police officer added.
The Income Tax department and Bihar Police have intensified a crackdown on the use of unaccounted cash as the model code of conduct is in force for the upcoming assembly polls.
The five-phase assembly elections will begin on 12 October and counting of votes will take place on 8 November.
