Actor Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor were widely hailed for showing considerable maturity in the immediate aftermath of Sridevi’s tragic death in February this year. Both had forgotten about their own bitter experiences, caused by Boney Kapoor’s decision to marry Sridevi and desert his first wife and mother of Arjun and Anshula, Mona Shourie Kapoor.
Seeing his parents’ separate in 1996, when he was just 11 years old wasn’t easy for Arjun. Witnessing his mother, who he always called his best friend leaving him for her heavenly abode in 2015, just months before his debut film was to be released, was another heartbreaking moment he had to endure.
In an interview to a newspaper few years ago, Arjun had said just how difficult it was for him and Anshula to come to terms with their parents split. He had said, “Back then, when we were kids, it was difficult. But what can you do? How long will you complain? You have to accept what is, take it on your chin, and move on.”
However, even many years later, Arjun is finding his life without his mother incredibly tough. This, the Namaste England actor revealed in an incredibly moving post on Instagram. Arjun revealed how his sister had been unwell for the last few days and dealing with her illness had made him vulnerable as he missed his mother ‘even more.’
He wrote, “Guys today is throwback Thursday. Today I genuinely felt so conflicted as I woke up wondering if all the madness the chaos is all worth it if ur loved ones aren’t ok and aren’t a 100 percent. The world ceased to exist for me when my sister wasn’t well for the last few days.
“I missed my mother even more because I felt vulnerable n helpless sitting in Pokhara trying to be professional because that’s what an actor is supposed to be in that moment. I realised this week I can handle n face the world as long as my world is fine and the people I care for are ok… otherwise everything kind of feels pointless.”
He went on to stress that his social media post was a reminder to those, who’re ‘so caught up in trying to run’ that they forget to ‘sometimes just stand, breathe and take it all in.’
He continued, “I’m grateful n thankful for a lot of things I have seen high s & lows good days and bad days but I know I want to be a more positive person and believe after the dark comes the light and as long as u are by my side I can face it all @anshulakapoor love u and love this really amazing hairstyle u got going back in the day.”
Arjun then urged his fans to go and hug their parents and siblings ‘even if they get confused with the sudden burst of love and affection.’
His post left his followers utterly moved. One fan wrote, “This moved me.” Another commented, “Oh my goodness this is honestly so sweet and genuine; respect you even more now.” “Thanks for your thought feeling moment. May God’s grace give you strength to overcome your difficulties,” commented another fan.
Despite going through a tumultuous time himself because of his father’s decision to marry Sridevi, Arjun did not let his old emotions influence his behaviour towards Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor after Sridevi’s death. Both Arjun and Anshula won the country’s hearts with their magnanimity.
In April, when a website published a disparaging report on Janhvi Kapoor’s dress, Arjun had lost his cool in her defence. A little known website had posted a tweet with a link to a report that said, “Janhvi Kapoor reaches Arjun Kapoor’s house, she was wearing such sexy dress that everything could be seen. See the pics.”
This evoked an incredibly angry response from Arjun, who decided to respond using profanity. He wrote, “U know what Fuck u man fuck u as a website for highlighting or bringing it to anyone s attention…and it’s shameful that ur eye would go searching for something like this shame on u…this is how our country looks at young women yet another shining example…ashamed by this…”
In March Anshula had publicly shut up a troll, who had targeted Jhanvi and Khushi with an abusive post.
