IAS topper Tina Dabi praises PM Narendra Modi, this time for real

Two years ago, when Tina Dabi became an overnight star after topping the UPSC exams, some mischievous elements within the right-wing groups had falsely attributed praiseworthy comments for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the new IAS topper.

A fake Facebook profile, created in her name, had posted a fake message in praise of Modi. The said Facebook update read, “I am really disappointed by what people are talking about me. I know who has been inspiring me and he our P.M. Narendra Modi. Am I compelled to admit Ambedkar ji as my idol just because I belong to S.C. category? Why this ‘Jai Bhim’ comments everywhere? I am a great admirer of Baba Saheb. What he had done for the backward categories is laudable. He had worked towards the upliftment of the dalits but he had never supported ‘reservation’. The system of reservation was in our constitution for very short period but the politicians are using it as a tool for their vote banks.”

Tina had later denied having posted those comments on Facebook page. She had said, “I want to clarify that none of the ridiculous statements being made under my name are my opinion. It’s really heartbreaking for me to see that a few anti-social elements can’t even allow a simple girl, who has hard work to remain in peace.”

Two years later, Tina has indeed praised Modi for real as she took to Instagram to post a photo with the prime minister. Tina wrote, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji addressed our batch yesterday. It was a great experience listening to him and knowing his views about how he expects the new batches of IAS to work for the country.”

Moments after Tina posted the group photo with Modi, Tina began to receive advice from her fans, nearly 1.6 lakh in numbers. One fan wrote, “You should have asked him his opinion about Love Zihad (sic)” “Please don’t work. According to his ideologies,” commented another user. One follower of Tina wrote, “Did u ask him about the stupid revamp of UPSC.”

Tina has been creating quite of lot of buzz on social media since her announcement to marry fellow topper Athar Aamir Ul Shafi Khan. Both had recently flown to London earlier this month to complete their final leg of IAS training programme before taking charge of their respective cadres as civil servants. While in London, she also made it a point to shut up a troll, who criticised her for enjoying a foreign trip at the expense of taspayers’ money.
