Delhi police’s Crime Branch on Thursday busted a massive racket facilitating fake admissions across top Delhi University colleges.
Four people have been arrested in connection with the case, including a college student. Some other college officials are also under the scanner.
“A team led by ACP KPS Malhotra carried out the operation. Raids are continuing. We will share information soon,” Joint CP (Crime) Ravindra Yadav told TOI.
Upon receiving a tip-off about suspects and the racket, the Crime Branch had deployed sources at colleges.
On Wednesday night, teams laid traps and nabbed the accused, who are now being interrogated to unveil the racket. An FIR has already been registered.
Earlier this year in March, Delhi University’s Shaheed Bhagat Singh College had cancelled admissions of 18 first-year students after its admission audit committee found they had provided false information.
Some of the students had submitted forged marksheets while others gave false caste certificates or wrong photographs.
