Based on the controversial and unsolved mystery of Aarushi Talwar murder case of 2008, director Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming film, Talvar has been selected for the world premiere in an international film festival in Canada.
Talvar will be showcased at the 40th Toronto International Film Festival which is supposed to take place from September 10 to 20, 2015. Produced by Junglee pictures and VB pictures, the film will also compete for the People’s Choice Award at TIFF.
The film starring Irfan Khan and Tabu, Talvar has been chosen by the members of the festival and will be presented as the part of the ‘Special Presentations’ programme. The movie also stars Neeraj Kabi and Konkona Sen Sharma, and is based on an investigative plot of the double murder case which took place at Talwar’s residence in Noida eight years back.
Meghna Gulzar, who is the daughter of lyricist Gulzar and veteran actress Raakhee excitingly said, “I am looking forward to the film’s premiere at the fest as it is very special to all of us and I definitely could not have asked for anything better for the film.”
While the lyrics for the movie have been written by Gulzar, the music has been produced by Vishal Bhardwaj and the cinematography has been done by Pankaj Kumar, who is famous for his work in Haider and Ship of Theseus.
Vishal Bhardwaj, who will be attending the fest for the second time said, “I am ecstatic! I had visited the Toronto film festival for Maqbool and will now be taking Talvar there. We are glad to premiere it at such a prestigious event.”
The film festival serves as a platform to showcase around 300 films of all genres from more than sixty countries every year and is attended by the film fraternity at large.
