Pakistan thrash Bangladesh by seven wickets

Pakistan on Tuesday defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets with 17.4 overs to spare as they kept their semi-final hope alive in the ongoing World Cup.

Batting first at Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens stadium, Bangladesh could only manage 204 all out in their innings. Mahmudullah was the top scorer with a knock of 56.

Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Wasim picked up three wickets each while Haris Rauf took two wickets.

Pakistan chased the target by losing just three wickets with 17.4 overs to spare. Fakhar Zaman, who was making a comeback in the side after a long gap was declared Player Of The Match for his impressive knock of 81 from 74 balls. His knock included seven massive sixes.

Pakistan will now have to win their remaining matches and hope for Australia and New Zealand to lose some of their matches to secure a semi-final spot. Top four teams will qualify for the semi-final.
