Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar on Saturday found himself embroiled in a Twitter spat with former England skipper Michael Vaughan due to his earlier comments calling Ravindra Jadeja a ‘bits and pieces’ player.
This was after Manjrekar took to Twitter to predict the Indian playing XI against New Zealand in the World Cup semi-final, scheduled to be played on Tuesday in Manchester. Manjrekar wrote, “Trying to predict Indian team for the semis. Let’s see how many I get right. Do send yours too. Will retweet a few. Rohit Rahul Virat Pant Hardik Dhoni Jadeja Bhuvi Shami Kuldeep* Bumrah. *If pitch is not a turner.”

Seeing Jadeja in the list Vaughan could not help himself from taking a jibe at Manjrekar by enquiring how his list had also included a player, who he had called a ‘bits and pieces player.’ Vaughan asked, “I see you have picked that bits and pieces cricketer !!!”

Manjrekar clarified that his list was only his prediction and not his choice. He wrote, “‘Predicted’ my dear Vaughan…not ‘my’ team.”

Vaughan promptly asked, “What’s your team then my dear Sanjay !! Are you picking any bits & pieces cricketers ?”

Manjrekar has not responded to Vaughan’s latest tweet. Last week, Jadeja had reacted angrily to Manjrekar’s comments asking him to respect his achievement.
