A video of a BSP leader throwing ink at EVMs inside a polling booth in Maharashtra has gone viral on social media platforms. The video was believed to have been shot during today’s assembly polls in the western Indian state.

In the viral video, the BSP’s Sunil Khambe is seen throwing ink at the voting machines while raising EVM machine murdabad and EVM machine nahi chalega slogans. Khambe, according to news agency ANI, was later taken into custody by police.

The video has emerged amidst growing controversy over one BJP MLA from Haryana making stunning confessions on the EVM tampering in favour of his party. The video of Bakhshish Singh Virk claiming that regardless of whichever button on the voting machine one pressed, the vote will ultimately be cast in favour of his party had triggered a huge controversy.

Reacting to his confession, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had called him the most ‘honest man in the BJP.’ Earlier, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had tweeted explaining that EVM stood for ‘Every Vote for Modi.’ Faced with controversy, Khattar had deleted his tweet.

Haryana and Maharashtra went to polls on Monday with the counting scheduled for 24 October.
