Speaking to reporters in Lucknow, she said, “Can a person be punished four times? He was first sacked as the UP BJP’s vice-president, then the FIR was lodged and later he was even expelled from the party for six years. He has also apologised for his remarks. But Mayawati ji is still not satisfied, she wants him beheaded.”

“Now thousands of BSP supporters are protesting on the streets and abusing me and my 12-year-old daughter. Yesterday, all of them were condemning my husband’s remarks. Why don’t they say anything now,” Swati was quoted by India Today.

“What applies to my husband also applies to others,” she argued.

Meanwhile, the BSP on Thursday called off its agitation against Dayashankar Singh after police assured his arrest within the next 36 hours. The cops had failed to find him at his whereabouts in Ballia and Lucknow on Thursday.
