Hours after Uddhav Thackeray resigned as the chief minister of Maharashtra, Raj Thackeray took to social media to take a brutal dig at his cousin. The MNS chief also used the opportunity to warn the new Maharashtra CM of the tough road ahead.

Taking a dig at Uddhav Thackeray, the MNS chief tweeted, “When anyone misunderstands good fortune as one’s personal accomplishment; therein begins the journey towards one’s decline.”

Although Raj Thackeray did not name his cousin, it was widely believed as his potshot at the Shiv Sena chief, who was forced to resign on Wednesday. Uddhav Thackeray had to tender his resignation immediately after the Supreme Court refused to stay the floor test ordered by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.

Hours later, rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde was sworn in as the new chief minister of Maharashtra. Congratulating Shinde on his new role, Raj Thackeray tweeted, “Shri Eknath Shinde ji, my heartfelt congratulations to you on being sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. It is indeed a moment of happiness for us.”

He continued, “Providence has given you this opportunity. I hope you will prove it with your performance. Be alert. Take measured steps.”

What surprised everyone was the demotion of BJP leader and former Maharashtra chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis, who took the oath of office as Shinde’s deputy.  Fadnavis had earlier said that he will stay out of the government, but was reportedly forced to toe the party line and agree for his demotion.
