Hurt by Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s stinging attack, the BJP on Saturday said that no national president of any party had used ‘such words’ for a PM before.
Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Saturday said, “It is very shameful, irresponsible. No national president of any party has used such words against a PM of the country before. We can’t expect anything else from Rahul Gandhi. He is chargesheeted in the National Herald case with his mother. He is silent on land grabbing case against his brother-in-law.”
Prasad, as reported by NDTV, also questioned why the Rafale deal during the then UPA government was sent back for re-examination in 2012. He said, “Why was the Rafale deal sent back for re-examination in 2012 just six months after Dassault was identified as the lowest bidder? Our explicit charge is this: they did not get a bribe, that’s why.”
Prasad’s comments came hours after Rahul launched a blistering attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi accusing him of betraying ‘India’s soul.’
Addressing a news conference on Saturday, Rahul had said, “Former French president calls our PM a thief… What is staggering is that the Prime Minister is still silent on it. Not a single word from him… It is very important for the prime minister now to either accept Mr Hollande’s statement or state that Mr Hollande is lying and tell what the truth is.”
On Friday, the Congress President, while reacting to the explosive revelation made by Former French President François Hollande, said that this conclusively proved that Modi had personally ‘negotiated & changed’ the Rafale deal.
“The PM personally negotiated & changed the #Rafale deal behind closed doors. Thanks to François Hollande, we now know he personally delivered a deal worth billions of dollars to a bankrupt Anil Ambani.
The political earthquake in India was caused by Former French President Francois Hollande, who told a news portal in France that the decision to select Anil Ambani’s Reliance as the offset partner was taken by the Modi government. This, the Congress alleged, had conclusively proved that the prime minister, who personally signed the inter-governmental defence deal with Hollande, had helped his bankrupt businessman friend, Ambani.
Many experts feel that the latest revelation by Hollande will cause considerable damage to Modi’s political damage and his personal reputation.
