A married woman in Odisha has chopped off the genitals of a man, who she was allegedly having an extra-marital affairs with. The man’s condition is said to be critical. Police have arrested a 24-year-old woman, identified as Kamla Patra.
The incident took place in Odisha’s Badauagaan village in Keonjhar district Wednesday last week at the house of Patra, news agency PTI reported quoting DSP James Toppo.
According to local media, Patra was in an illicit relationship with Rajendra Nayak, a 25-year-old man, who worked in Chennai. Nayak, who hails from Jharabeda village, always visited Patra every time he returned from Chennai. This time too, no sooner did he return to his village, he went to Patra’s house.
However, the woman lost her temper over some comments passed by Nayak and used a sharp object to cut off her genitals. The woman, however, waited for Nayak to fall asleep to commit the crime. The man was first admitted to Harichandanpur Hospital before being shifted to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital. Later, he was moved to a hospital in Cuttack.
The woman has confessed to her crime. The police have recovered the sharp object used commit the crime. The woman has been sent to jail as the doctors plan to carry out correctional surgery on Monday for repair of the mutilated organ.
