Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has reacted with excitement to his party’s first-ever electoral win in Goa after AAP candidate Hanzel Fernandes won the Benaulim seat in the just-concluded Zilla Parishad elections.
Kejriwal tweeted, “Congratulations to AAPs Hanzel Fernandes on winning the Benaulim ZP seat in Goa. Many other AAP candidates have secured much higher vote share than last time. This is just the beginning. I am sure AAP will live up to the trust and expectations of Goans.”
Of the total 49 seats, the ruling BJP won 32 seats while the Congress bagged four seats. Seven seats went to independent candidates, the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party won three while the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the AAP emerged victorious on one seat each.
Kejriwal’s party had contested the 2017 assembly elections in Goa in 2017 but failed to win a single seat. The AAP is aiming to contest the next assembly election here with an aim to improve its performance. The AAP is confident to match the money power of the BJP and the Congress as Kejriwal embarks on his five-star advertising campaign ahead of the next assembly polls.
