An army jawan was killed in fresh ceasefire violation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district along the LoC on Wednesday night as Pakistani troops targeted forward posts in a sniper attack.
Army jawan Rachpal Singh, who belonged to the 22-Sikh unit, succumbed to his injuries during the attack. Singh was guarding the Parvinder post.
“A soldier was killed in ceasefire violation by Pakistan troops in Krishna Ghati sector of the LoC yesterday (Wednesday),” a defence source confirmed.
“There was a single round of unprovoked sniper fire from across the LoC that hit the soldier and killed him,” he added.
This is now the third incident of sniper attack by Pakistani troops along the LoC this month.
