Former JNU Students Union leader, Shehla Rashid, has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for establishing peace in Jammu and Kashmir. Once a fierce critic of the BJP, Rashid’s sensational post came amidst Israel-Palestine conflict where the Israeli military is facing global condemnation for committing a genocide against children.

Rashid tweeted, “Looking at the events in the Middle East, today I realise how lucky we are as Indians. The Indian Army and security forces have sacrificed their everything for our safety. Credit where it’s due @pmoindia, @HMOIndia @manojsinha_ @adgpi @ChinarcorpsIA for bringing peace to Kashmir.”

She added, “Peace is impossible without security, as the Middle East crisis has shown. The Indian Army @ChinarcorpsIA along with @crpfindia
and brave personnel of Jammu Kashmir Police @JmuKmrPolice have made tremendous sacrifices to ensure long-term peace and security in Kashmir.”

Israeli military has launched a brutal attack against innocent civilians in Gaza by dropping thousands of lethal bombs within a span of seven days. Many experts believe that the number of lethal bombs that Israel has dropped in Gaza in the last one week surpasses the numbers of bombs dropped by the Americans in Afghanistan in a year.

More than 1,500 innocent civilians including 600 children have been massacred. Experts say that Israel has committed war crime in Gaza and accused world leaders such as US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of aiding the genocide.

Rashid’s social media post praising Modi and Shah left netizens irked. User Pravin wrote, “The downfall of Shehla Rashid is embarrassing. From CPIML liberation to the BJP, that’s one hell of a switch.” Uswr IamMusa wrote, “Umar Khalid..Sharjeel Imam Must Be Ashamed To Be Associated With A Sold Out Shehla Rashid.”

In January this year, the Delhi Lieutenant Governor had sanctioned her prosecution for her two tweets posted against the Indian army in the past.
