India ended their day one of the first Test against South Africa at 272-3 with KL Rahul remaining unbeaten at 122. Ajinkya Rahane was not out at 40 when the day’s play came to an end.
Earlier, the opening pair of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal had added 117 runs. Agarwal was out for 60 and was replaced by Cheteswar Pujara, who was dismissed for a duck.
Skipper Virat Kohli came to bat at number four but was out only after scoring 35 runs reeling India at 199-3.
Rahul and Rahane have now added 73 runs for the fourth wicket and are set to amass a big total for India when they resume batting on Monday. This was Rahul’s seventh Test century.
