Rebel Congress MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi on Saturday took a potshot on his party leadership with a cryptic tweet hours after spoiling the party of Ajay Maken in the just-concluded Rajya Sabha polls. This was after Bishnoi’s decision to cross-vote dashed Maken’s hopes to get elected to Rajya Sabha.
Bishnoi took to Twitter to write in Hindi, “I know the art to crush a snake’s hood. You don’t leave the forest due to the fear of snakes.”
“फन कुचलने का हुनर आता है मुझे,
सांप के ख़ौफ़ से जंगल नही छोड़ा करते।” सुप्रभात 🙏💪🏼

Elections for 16 Rajya Sabha seats were held across four states on Friday. These states included Haryana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Karnataka. There were two seats in Karnataka. The Congress had fielded Ajay Maken as its candidate, while Krishan Lal Panwar was the ruling BJP-JJP alliance’s candidate. Also throwing his hat into the ring was media baron Kartikeya Sharma, who was being backed by the BJP-JJP alliance.
Maken first celebrated his win by claiming to receive the support of 30 MLAs only to be left disappointed after the Election Commission ordered the recounting. Bishnoi cross-voted and one Congress vote was rejected, while an independent MLA abstained, paving the way for Sharma’s election.
There are reports that the Congress may suspend Bishnoi from the party and revoke his status as a member of Congress Working Committee (special invitee). The party is also planning to write to the Haryana Assembly Speaker, asking for the cancellation of Bishnoi’s membership from the assembly.
