Donald Trump on Saturday became the first US President to fail in his re-election bid since 1992 after Joe Biden secured 273 electoral college votes to become the 46th President of America. Biden’s victory as the new US President and the embarrassing defeat of Donald Trump prompted Twitterati to flood the microblogging site with hilarious memes as they trended hashtag #HowdyModi.
The choice of the trend #HowdyModi was in reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s much-publicised friendship with Trump, who’s accused of turning the US into a hate factory during his four years of rule. Modi and Trump had jointly addressed a large crowd of Indian diaspora during the former’s last visit to the US in 2019. Billed as Howdy Modi, the said event had seen Modi raise the slogan of Ab Ki Bar Trump Sarkar (This time, a government headed by Trump).”
No sooner did the news of Biden’s election victory become official, Twitterati began to trend #HowdyModi with hilarious memes mocking both Trump and Modi.
