Group Captain Arun Marwah of the Indian Air Force has been arrested for sharing sensitive information to two women spies from the ISI.
As reported earlier, the officer was in touch with Pakistani women on Facebook, where he became friends with her before he shared the classified information with her via WhatsApp.
A probe by Defence Cyber Agency, Defence Space Agency and a Special Operations Division discovered that Marwah often clicked photos of classified documents related to combat exercises at the Air Force headquarters before sending them to women working for ISI.
Marwah was taken into custody for questioning on 31 January after he was caught red-handed passing sensitive information to the enemy’s camp. Sources in the IAF said that the officer was honey-trapped by Pakistani intelligence, which used its women officer to get access to sensitive information.
Under the existing rules, serving armed forces officials are not allowed to disclose their ranks, units or posting on social media platforms. The identities of the air force officer or the woman have been kept secret as probe continues.
