He may have been just a captain in the game of cricket, the cool Dhoni or Mahi as his known to his friends, has recently spent considerable length of time training to become Colonel Paratrooper. As first reported by www.jantakareporter.com.com earlier, Dhoni was the first among a group of five troopers to jump from a height of 1,250 feet at 6.55am and landed within 65 seconds.

India’s One Day captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, was recently granted Honorary Commission into 106 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) Para Regiment.

Dhoni, who was conferred with the honorary rank of Lt Col in the TA in November 2011. reported at the Indian Army’s 50 Para Brigade for his basic training in Agra and underwent training at the Indian Air Force’s Paratroopers Training School.

While cricketer Kapil Dev and shooter Abhinav Bindra too were ‘commissioned’ but Dhoni is the first cricketer in the world to train as a Paratrooper.

 

According to reports, the Agra PTS has a reputation of providing the finest paratroopers who have played significant role in the Bangladesh Liberation War as well as Sri Lanka and Maldives operations.
