Embarrassed by Hyundai Pakistan’s tweet on Kashmir, Hyundai India has issued an extraordinary statement pledging loyalty to India amidst call for the boycott of the automobile giant.
In a statement, the company said, “Hyundai Motor India has been committed to the Indian market for more than 25 years now stands firmly for its and we stand firmly for our strong ethos of respecting nationalism.”
It added, “The unsolicited social media post linking Hyundai Motor India is offending our unparalleled commitment and service to this great country. India is second home to the Hyundai brand and we have a zero tolerance policy towards insensitive communication and we strongly condemn any such view.”
Hyundai India said that it will ‘continue our efforts towards the betterment of the country as well as its citizens’ as part of its commitment to India.

The Japanese carmaker had found itself in a spot of bother for the ill-fated political tweet from the official Twitter handle of its Pakistani operations. The controversial tweet had read, “Let us remember the sacrifices of our Kashmiri brothers and stand in support as they continue to struggle for freedom.” The tweet also carried hashtag #KashmirSolidarityDay.
