Delhi: Parents booked for taking bribe to “settle” daughter’s rape case


Amidst growing outrage against rapes and assaults on women, a shocking case has emerged from Delhi. The parents of an 18-year-old girl, who was raped in 2017, have been booked after they allegedly took bribe from the men, who raped her in order to “settle” the case.

The girl showed immense courage to get her parents booked for settling the rape charge against the two accused and forcing her to withdraw the case for Rs 20 lakhs. The girl has alleged that she was raped in August 2017.

According to the Times of India, one of the accused in the case who was out on interim bail, offered money to the girl’s parents in order to settle and withdraw the case. The amount offered was Rs 20 lakhs. Shockingly, the parents accepted the offer and started pressuring the victim to take back the case.

The girl alleged that when protested, the parents beat her and tortured her. The parents even took an advance of Rs 5 lakhs to withdraw the case. But the girl, refused to give up, took the advance of Rs 5 lakhs to the police. The police has booked the parents and arrested the mother while the father escaped.

The case was registered in Aman Vihar police station under Sections 195 (A), 506 and 120 (B) and section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act. The police is now on a look out for the father of the victim.
