Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that he was told he was lucky his party MLAs are being sent to jail and that he did not meet the fate of former Gujarat home minister Haren Pandya, who was murdered in 2003.

According to Indian Express, while speaking at an Eid-Milan event in northeast Delhi’s Babarpur Monday evening, Kejriwal said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP were determined to send all AAP MLAs to jail in an effort to derail the Delhi government.

He said, “Somebody told me, ‘Kejriwal ji, you are very lucky’. I asked why. They said, ‘Aapko toh jail hi bhej rahein hai. Nahi toh Gujarat mein toh Haren Pandya jaise aapka patta hi saaf kar sakte thhe (You are only being sent to jail. Or else in Gujarat they could have just eliminated you like Haren Pandya).”

“He is trying to derail the government in Delhi. All the good officers have been transferred out of Delhi. They throw our MLAs in jail. We have to remember the sacrifices made by Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose. This is the second freedom struggle. All MLAs have to get ready to go to jail,”Kejriwal was quoted as saying.

Kejriwal said, “I went to Gujarat the day before. I traveled 200 km from Rajkot to Somnath. There were people on both sides of the road all the way. They said these people have destroyed Gujarat. The electricity bill for 400 units in Delhi is Rs 1,100 but that in Gujarat is Rs 2,200. Schools and hospitals are in bad condition. The people are fed up. They are waiting for elections so that AAP can form government in Gujarat. People are ready for AAP in Goa too and a recent survey said AAP will win at least 100 of 117 seats in Punjab.”
