Aam Aadmi Party government’s health minister, Satyendra Jain, has become a subject of an intense media scrutiny after it emerged that his 26-year-old daughter was heading the ambitious Mohalla Clinics project despite having no qualifications for the job.

What has also not gone down well with the social media users and the political rivals of the AAP is that Soumya Jain has landed the key role in her father’s own ministry.

The BJP’s Harish Khurana said, “This exposes the real face of Kejriwal, and this is not the first time Aam Aadmi Party or AAP volunteers and workers have been given cozy positions in the government.”

Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit said, “It’s illegal and absolute double speak from the party which kept targeting others for family links.”

As for the minister himself, Jain said that his daughter, who has degree in architect, could have opted for more lucrative prospects.

“She has secured admission in IIM Indore, but she is leaving all that to serve the people of Delhi. Soumya is involved with the Delhi Health mission as a volunteer. She has not been provided with any vehicle, house or money by the government,” Jain was quoted by NDTV.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had launched the mohalla clinics last year and his initiatives had earned him plenty of plaudits. However, the latest disclosure will cause embarrassment particularly because the AAP had come to power promising to be different from the parties, that promoted dynastic and VIP culture.
