In yet another episode of porn involving a senior BJP functionary, an MLC from Karnataka has become a topic of intense media conversation after he posted over 50 porn images on a WhatsApp group that has several MLAs, councillors and senior officers as its members.
An NDTV report said that the BJP MLC Mahantesh Kavatagimath posted the porn images on a group called, “Belagavi media force.”
The group was set up to to share news and alerts.
This caused embarrassment to the said MLC primarily because the the WhatsApp group in question has top police officers, Members of Parliaments, women civil servants, activists and even journalists.
The MLC was later removed by the group administrator. While some reacted in shock, others posted their condemnation and disapproval.
Sharing obscene content on social media platforms like WhatsApp is a criminal offence.
Kavatagimath has switched off his phone and made himself unavailable for comments.
This is not the first time a senior BJP functionary has caused embarrassment to both himself and the party.
Not so long ago, a former Surat mayor, Rajubhai Desai’s decision to share obscene photos on the BJP’s official WhatsApp group on 9 February had caused a huge controversy in Gujarat.
No sooner had Desai posted the porn images, several women BJP supporters left the group, which was essentially created to keep workers abreast of the party’s programmes on a regular basis.
