BJP’s Central Chennai SC/ST wing president killed in Tamil Nadu


Police in Tamil Nadu say that BJP’s Central Chennai SC/ST wing president Balachandran was killed by three unknown people in Chintadripet.

Chennai Police Commissioner Shankar Jiwal said that it was a murder case involving previous enmity. “Eyewitnesses have spoken about the incident. We have formed a special team to arrest the accused.I have come here to see if there was a lapse of any sort,” ANI quoted Jiwal as saying.

A report by India Today said that the deceased BJP functionary was provided with a personal security officer since he had complained of threats to his life.

Balachandran was attacked by three people, who hacked him to death. His PSO had left him to have tea at the time of the attack. The attackers fled from the scene on a motorbike before the deceased BJP leader’s PSO could arrive back at the scene.

Reacting to the murder of his party colelague, Karu Nagarajan, BJP vice-president in Chennai said, “Don’t know whether Chennai is capital of Tamil Nadu or capital of murder. Is this what DMK’s model of governance is? We’ve lodged a complaint. Police told us that accused will arrested within 48 hours, if it’s not done, BJP will protest.”
