Deputy chief minister of Bihar Tejaswi Yadav on Thursday said the Centre made a “hasty” decision to demonetize the currency which has severely affected the day-to-day activities of the common people.

He said the Union government should have made proper arrangements before announcing scrapping of Rs 500, Rs 1000 notes.

The RJD leader, however, said his party supports “all the decisions that are taken to check the flow of black money and fake currency in the market and corruption”.

“The decision has been taken in haste. It has led to a lot of inconvenience. People are unable to carry out their day-to -day activities. The Centre and RBI should have made all arrangements keeping in view the problems to be faced by the public,” he said.

“There are long queues at ATMs, bank branches, petrol pumps, medical services have been hit, traveling by bus and trains has become difficult, small shopkeepers are unable to carry out their business,” Yadav said and questioned the timing of the announcement, saying it has been made just a few months ahead of the Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.

He asked why Modi made the announcement after two-and-a-half years of becoming the Prime Minister and what is the BJP government doing to bring back the black money stashed abroad?

He alleged that BJP also politicized the issue of “surgical strikes” by the army against on terror launchpads in PoK and said it will bite the dust in Uttar Pradesh like in Bihar”.
