Singer-turned-politician and BJP MP, Babul Supriyo, has announced that he was quitting active politics for social works.
In a long social media post in Bengal, the former union minister said, “I am going..Alvida (Goodbye…) Heard everything from everyone – Father, (mother) wife, daughter, two dear friends.. I say after listening to everything, I am going…’Stayed for some time’.. Kept some mind and broke some.. Somewhere I may have made you happy with my work, somewhere I am disappointed | You will not evaluate.”
He went on to add, “I’m saying after answering all the questions that arise in ‘ my ‘ mind.. I’m saying it in my own way.. I am going…”
Surpiyo, a former Bollywood singer, was dropped from the Narendra Modi cabinet earlier this month ahead of the much-anticipated cabinet reshuffle. His ouster from the cabinet had come weeks after the BJP suffered a defeat in the assembly polls in Supriyo’s home state of Bengal.
Supriya said that he had quit his job as a banker in 1992 to pursue his Bollywood dream. “Today I did the same!!! I am going,” he concluded in his Facebook post.
Supriyo represented the BJP in the Lok Sabha from Asansol parliamentary seat. He said that he would soon be resigning from the parliament as a BJP MP.
