Congress President Rahul Gandhi has cancelled the appointment of Kumar Ashish as AICC Secretary attached with his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who was appointed the AICC General Secretary in-charge of UP East, last month.
A statement by AICC General General Secretary, KK Venugopal, read, “Hon’ble Congress President, Shri Rahul Gandhi has cancelled the appointment of Shri Kumar Ashish as AICC Secretary attached with Smt. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, General Secretary for UP-East with immediate effect.”
He said that Ashish had now been replaced with Sachin Naik. Ashish was appointed as AICC Secretary attached with Priyanka only on Tuesday, when the party also named Zubair Khan and Bajirao Khade as other two secretaries. Rana Goswami, Dhiraj Gurjar and Rohit Chaudhary were appointed as AICC secretaries attached with Jyotiraditya Scindia, AICC General Secretary in-charge of UP West.
Rahul Gandhi’s decision to sack Ashish came after several JDU and Congress supporters in Bihar took to social media to highlight the former’s alleged involvement in the infamous papers’ leak scam.
