AAP’s East Delhi candidate Atishi Marlena on Thursday broke down in public accusing BJP candidate Gautam Gambhir of circulating pamphlets casting aspersion on her character.
Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Atishi said that a pamphlet had been circulated with newspapers on Thursday morning at the behest of Gambhir. The content of the pamphlet said that she had a Christian husband, who was forced to marry her after she was caught in a compromising position in a school in Andhra Pradesh, where she taught as a teacher.

Atishi, who was joined by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, broke down twice while reading out the content from the pamphlet. She said, “”\They’ve shown how low they can stoop.Pamphlet states that ‘she is very good example of a mixed breed’.”
Reacting to the allegation, Gambhir said that he was ready to resign from public life if Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal proved that allegations against him were true. News agency ANI quoted him as saying, “If they can get a proof, I’ll resign right now & if they get a proof by 23rd I’ll resign on that particular day. But if Arvind Kejriwal does not get the proof, does he accept the challenge that he will leave politics forever on 23rd?”
Gambhir said that he will file a defamation case against her. He added, “I will definitely file a defamation case against them. You can’t tarnish someone’s image just like that, if you don’t have the proof. I have never given a negative statement against anyone so far in my election campaigning.”
