Aamir Khan reveals why he refused to act in Sanju

Actor Aamir Khan has finally broken his silence on why he refused to act in Sanjay Dutt’s biopic ‘Sanju.‘ Aamir revealed that Rajkumar Hirani had offered him to play Sanjay’s father, Sunil Dutt’s role, but he was only keen to play Sanjay’s character.

Speaking to media recently, Aamir said, “In this film I can’t do any other role apart from Sanjay Dutt’s, which I can’t do because Ranbir is doing,” Aamir Khan said at the media interaction. “I can’t come to a set thinking and be looking at Ranbir and be like, hmmm… these should be my lines.”

Asked if he was offered to play the role of Sunil Dutt, he said, “He (Hirani) approached me with the script and I loved it. He wanted me to play Dutt saab’s role. It is a fantastic role and the story is largely on the father-son relationship. But Sanju’s role is unbelievable.

“So as an actor, I told Raju that Sanjay Dutt’s role is so wonderful that it won my heart. So in this film I can’t do any other role but Sanjay Dutt’s, which of course I cannot do because Ranbir (Kapoor) is playing it. So, do not offer me anything,” Aamir was further quoted by IANS.

Aamir, however, said that he could not ‘wait to watch the film now.’ The actor has worked wirh Hirani in films such as 3 Idiots and PK with both creating new box office records. Aamir is currently shooting for Thugs of Hindostan.

Sanju is scheduled to release on 29 June.
