The news of a pregnant woman being beheaded in Alton in Illinois has sent shockwaves across America. The woman, identified as Liese Dodd, was murdered last week. Her body was found by the police on 9 June. Court documents obtained by the St Louis Dispatch revealed that Dodd’s head was found in a dumpster outside her apartment. She was eight months pregnant at the time of her murder and due to deliver in July this year.
The police have arrested Dodd’s ex-boyfriend Deundrea Holloway on suspicion of murder.
Who Is Liese Dodd?
Reacting to the news of her daughter’s murder, Dodd’s mother Heidi Noel said that she was a 22-year-old bright and loving soul.
Heidi said that her daughter cared for everyone, adding that Dodd had a ‘big heart.’ “She’d do anything for anyone. She’d go out of her way to help people,” a devastated mother added.
Heidi told News 4 over the phone that Dodd grew up and went to school in Jerseyville, Illinois, adding that she had recently relocated to Alton.

“She had attended college and was planning on going into the medical field. I’m a nurse, and, so, she was towing with heading in that direction,” Heidi continued.
Heidi said the family was super excited about Dodd’s baby and were busy preparing for the baby shower. “We were just excited and gathering the items you need to have a baby,” She told KMOV.
Why Was Liese Dodd Killed?
Alton Police Chief Marcos Pulido said that Dodd’s body was found after Heidi went to check on her. Terming her murder ‘beyond irreprehensible’, the cop said that Dodd was ‘savagely killed.’

“This daughter, this mother-to-be, and her family were in the planning stages of a baby shower that was supposed to be at the end of June but now instead the family is planning a funeral because of what a monster did,” Pulido added.
The baby was going to be Dodd’s first child.
According to the cop, Dodd and Holloway dated intermittently for around two years. Holloway has been arrested and charged with two counts each of first-degree murder and intentional homicide of an unborn child.
He has also been charged with the dismemberment of a human body, concealment of homicide death, and motor vehicle offenses.

Heidi revealed that Holloway was not the child’s father. “They (Dodd and Holloway) had been in a tumultuous on-again, off-again relationship for two years,” she said.
The police is also investigating the revenge angle in Dodd’s murder. It’s not known who Dodd was dating at the time of her murder.
