Umran Malik once again bowled the fastest delivery of the match in IPL against Punjab Kings on Sunday by clocking 153.5 kmh pace. The young bowling sensation from Jammu and Kashmir won his 14th consecutive fastest IPL delivery award. His feat came on a day Umran received a Team India call for the series against South Africa. His individual achievement, however, could not prevent what was a rout for Sunrisers Hyderabad by Punjab Kings.

Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad made 157-8 in 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma was the top scorer for the SRH with a knock of 43 from 32 balls.

Nathan Ellis and Harpreet Brar shared three wickets each.

Punjab Kings had little difficulty in chasing the target and won the match with almost five overs to spare by losing just five wickets. Liam Livingstone remained unbeaten at 49 from 22 deliveries.

SRH skipper Bhuvaneshwar Kumar blamed poor fielding and unsatisfactory batting for his side’s defeat. He said, “I think we were a lot of runs short, but we had to field better, didn’t take our chances and there were fumbles, but this was the last match of the season and that does have an effect.”

Kumar said that his side had plenty of positives to take home from IPL 2022. “Have had many positives, Umran Malik and Abhishek Sharma were the obvious positives, but we have a decent core of batting with Aiden Markram and Nicolas Pooran coming up pretty well,” Kumar said.

Harpreet Brar was declared the Player of the Match for his impressive bowling display.
