‘Sad’ Krushna Abhishek sends emotional message to ‘rival’ Kapil Sharma

Kapil Sharma’s known rival in the comedy circuit, Krushna Abhishek, has revealed how he had called the former during his depression period even though he didn’t consider himself his friend.

Krushna, whose film Teri Bhabhi Hai Pagle is scheduled to release on 13 July, said that Kapil falling into depression had made him ‘really sad.’ He told Hindustan Times, “When he was unwell, I was really sad. I don’t consider myself among his friends, but I want him to remain in good health. I messaged him after five years. I even told him that we can perform together if you want. He established comedians in the entertainment industry, got them respect.”

Krushna, however, did not explain how Kapil reacted to his approach and whether he reciprocated his gesture. Krushna’s latest comments showing concern for Kapil’s health are in marked contrast to the dig he had taken at him last year. When asked to comment on Kapil’s new show, Krushna had said, “I never compare myself with Kapil. We have totally different styles. Kapil just gives one-liners, I do performances. Let’s be practical and genuine. Does he perform for one hour in his show? I perform for one hour. That’s the difference between us.”

Krushna was accused of making fun of Kapil after his Comedy Nights Live had replaced Comedy Nights With Kapil. Krushna in particular was condemned for making disparaging remarks about Kapil in the very first episode on Colors TV..

After leaving Colors TV, Kapil had signed a contract with Sony TV, where his new show The Kapil Sharma Show made a debut with almost the same format that existed on Colors TV. The show gained popularity, but a mid-air brawl with Sunil Grover, brought his downfall as several of his co-stars began to leave his show.

He publicly apologised to Sunil, but to no avail. While speaking exclusively to Janta Ka Reporter, Sunil had said he had lived with Kapil’s tantrum for long and it was time to quit to protect his ‘self-esteem.’

Faced with the rapid drop in the show’s TRP, Kapil’s Sony TV show was taken off air. The episode pushed the actor-comedian into depression as he reportedly turned alcoholic.

Earlier this year, the audio of Kapil using profanity to a journalist for allegedly publishing fabricated news had gone viral. Since then, the Firangi actor hasn’t been able to recover. Recently he was spotted outside the Mumbai Airport, where he looked ill and beyond recognition.

Few days later another photo emerged from Amsterdam, where once India’s most popular comedian painted a sorry picture of himself. That prompted his anxious fans to send him ‘get well soon’ messages as they desperately prayed for his recovery and return to TV.

Recently Teri Bhabhi Hai Pagle director, Vinod Tiwari, had caused quite a stir in the entertainment industry by proposing to make a biopic on Kapil.
