Rohit Sharma tests positive for coronavirus

The BCCI on Saturday said that Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has tested positive for coronavirus and had isolated himself in his hotel room.

“UPDATE – #TeamIndia Captain Mr Rohit Sharma has tested positive for COVID-19 following a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted on Saturday. He is currently in isolation at the team hotel and is under the care of the BCCI Medical Team,” the BCCI said in a tweet.

The Indian team is currently in England to play the one-off Test match scheduled to be held at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground from 1 July.

It’s not clear if Rohit will be fit in time to lead the team in the crucial match.
