The Highland Park Police on Tuesday revealed the names of the six victims, who were killed by the alleged shooter, Robert E. Crimo III, during Monday’s Independence Day parade. A seventh victim too has died in hospital, but the identity of the latest victim has not been revealed.
According to Jennifer Banek, Lake County Coroner, the six victims were ’64-year-old Katherine Goldstein of Highland Park, 35-year-old Irina McCarthy of Highland Park, 37-year-old Kevin McCarthy of Highland Park, 63-year-old Jacquelyn Sundheim of Highland Park, 88-year-old Stephen Straus of Highland Park, 78-year-old Nicolas Toledo-Zaragoza of Morelos, Mexico.”
According to authorities, a total of 45 people either died or were left injured in the mass shooting on Monday.
However, in another chilling revelation, it has emerged that the police seized knives and a sword from the Illinois shooting suspect’s home in 2019 after a relative reported he threatened to “kill everyone.” Questions may arise as to why he was not placed under surveillance after the discovery of weapons and his intention to kill way back in 2019.
Crimo was arrested after a massive manhunt on Monday. He had disguised himself as a woman and had gone to his mother’s house before fleeing in her car.
The FBI too had deployed its own resources in catching Crimo.
Since it became public that Crimo was the suspect behind the 4 July carnage in Illinois, several social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Spotify have deleted his accounts. Crimo had a verified Spotify account, which he used to promote his songs and albums.
Earlier, the FBI and other agencies had said that Crimo was 22 years of age, but the same agencies have now described his age to be 21.
