A former Facebook executive has made a stunning revelation accusing the social media giant giving top managerial posts in the company to those who have ‘strong governmental associations or political affiliations.’ Appearing before the Delhi Assembly’s Committee on Peace and Harmony through video link, Mark Luckie also accused his former employer of resorting to ‘compromised implementation’ of community standards.

“The witness during the course of deposition made extremely scathing revelations on the internal functioning of Facebook, thus giving insights on the entire organisational structure of Facebook globally as well as regionally,” news agency PTI quoted a statement from the committee.

Luckie, according to the news agency, also said that repeated interference of the top heads of the Facebook on content moderating teams had ‘led to compromising on community guidelines.’ He said that top members of the Facebook management team including its CEO Mark Zuckerberg were ‘generally aware of such gross inaction and misappropriation’ of the community standards and other policies of the company.

Facebook has been facing allegations of biases in favour of the BJP in India. Its former India policy director and lobbyist, Ankhi Das, had recently resigned from her post following a global outcry over her support for Islamophobia.
