Humbled PM Modi thanks Kapil Sharma for appreciating his humour, Kartik Aryan calls himself loser with ‘backfie’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Mumbai on Sunday to inaugurate a museum on Indian Cinema. While in Mumbai, he met a host of Bollywood celebrities including Kapil Sharma, Asha Bhosle, Kartik Aryan, Dibya Dutta, Ekta Kapoor and Jitendra among others. Later, Modi took to Twitter to respond to Bollywood stars who had posted their selfies with the prime minister.

Singing legend Asha Bhosle wrote, “With the PM of our beloved country and the President of my house. What a beautiful function today – the inauguration of India’s 1st museum of cinema spanning 100 years of Indian film making.”

Pat came a reply from the prime minister, “Asha Ji, thank you for gracing the programme with your presence. The entire nation looks up to you for your stupendous contribution to the film world.”

Ekta Kapoor posted a photo of her Dad Jitendra with Modi and wrote, “JAI HIND ! my dads fan moment !my dad is a big fan of the honorable PRIME MINISTER n today he met him.” Reacting to her tweet, Modi said that ‘The entire nation admires Jeetendra Ji for his acting. And, as I said yesterday, he is full of energy!”

Kartik Aryan posted a photo of himself with Karan Johar and filmmaker Imtiaz Ali with PM Modi’s back in the background. Terming it ‘backfie,’ Kartik wrote, “Losers’ backfie with the Honorable PM!” But the prime minister quickly corrected him as he wrote, “Not losers but Rockstars! No selfie Jab We Met but there will always be another occasion. :)”

Another notable conversation of the prime minister was with comedian-actor Kapil Sharma, who tweeted, “Respected pm Sh @narendramodi ji,it was nice meeting u n great knowing ur inspiring ideas and progressive views about our film industry and our nation. N sir I must say u have a great sense of humor too! regards.”

Modi replied confessing that he was humbled by Kapil, the king of comedy, appreciating his sense of humour. He wrote, “When @KapilSharmaK9 appreciates somebody’s humour, it sure makes that person happy and I am no exception. 🙂 Thank you for the kind words Kapil.”

This is the third such interaction of Modi with Bollywood stars. Recently, a host of Bollywood celebrities had travelled to Delhi to meet the prime minister. Last year, a Bollywood delegation led by Karan Johar had held discussions with PM Modi to discuss the implications lof GST on film tickets.
