The Assam Police have arrested a man for his decision to dress as Lord Shiva during his street protests against the rising fuel prices. The police are also looking for two others including a woman, who dressed as Parvati, Lord Shiva’s wife, for hurting religious sentiments. The arrested man has been identified as Birinchi Bora.
“An accused who dressed up as Lord Shiva arrested, will be presented in court. 2 others, suspected to be involved are yet to be nabbed,” Manoj Rajvanshi, Sadar PS Incharge, was quoted by news agency ANI.
Bora was reportedly released on bail later.
The complaint was filed by a BJP worker, who said, “They dressed up as Lord Shiva & Goddess Parvati. If you want to protest, sit & do it. We don’t support their act of dressing up as deities. BJP lodged FIR.”
