Anurag Kashyap shuts up ‘desperate’ sister of Kangana Ranaut for ‘sasti copy’ comments on friend Taapsee Pannu

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap on Wednesday lashed out at Rangoli Chandel, Kangana Ranaut’s sister after she made ‘sasti copy’ comments mocking Taapsee Pannu. Chandel, who’s known for provoking stars using her social media account, targeted Taapsee calling her names since she had not praised Kangana while tweeting about the latter’s upcoming film Judgementall Hai Kya. Angered by Chandel’s comments targeting Taapsee, Kashyap decided to shut her up while calling her action ‘desperate.’

Reacting to the trailer of Judgementall Hai Kya, Taapsee had written, “This is so cool!!!! Always had high expectations out of this one n this looks so worth it !”

As expected, not only did Chandel criticise Taapsee for not mentioning Kangana while commenting about Judgementall Hai Kya, but she also called her a cheap copy of her sister. Chandel wrote, “Kuch log Kangana ko copy kar ke he apni dukaan chalate hain, magar pls note, they never acknowledge her not even a mention of her name in praising the trailer, last I heard Taapsee ji said Kangana needs a double filter and Tapsee ji you need to stop being a sasti copy.”

This unprovoked reaction by Chandel for his friend did not go down well with Kashyap, who decided to respond to her on behalf of Taapsee. He wrote, “Come on Rangoli.. this is going too far.. this is really really desperate.. I really don’t know what to say to this . Having worked with both your sister and Taapsee .. I just don’t get this ..praising the trailer means praising all aspect of it. Which includes Kangana.”

Earlier in the day, Chandel had also reacted angrily to a tweet by actor Varun Dhawan, who had written on Twitter, “What a mast trailer. Amazing lead and supporting cast backed by some great writting.Looks like alot of fun. (sic)”

To Varun’s surprise, Chandel had said that Varun ought to have mentioned Kangana in particular even though his tweet had not singled out anyone, not even the film’s male protagonist Rajkumar Rao, for the praise. Chandel’s tweet read, “You should have also named Kangana sir. She is also somebody’s daughter, she has also worked hard.”

Surprised by this tweet, Varun wrote, “Loving everyone from satish sir, Hussain, raj and specially Kangana aur lead cast ka wohi matlab tha maam ?. Best wishes.”

Judgmentall Hai Kya starring Rajkumar Rao and Kangana Ranaut is scheduled to release on 26 July. The film was originally called Mental Hai Kya but the makers had to change the name in the wake of objections from the Indian Psychiatric Society, which had written to the Censor Board alleging that the film violated many sections of the Mental Health Care Act, 2017.
